Archibald Irving and Walter Grive were indicted for the murder of Robert Hall on the 29^th June 1782, at one o’clock in the afternoon, in the parish of Morland. Irving was charged with assaulting him on the highway with a stick, beating him about the head, Grive being present and aiding and abetting him. Parker died of the wounds he received at about midnight the same day. (ASSI 44/97). They were found guilty and ordered for execution with their bodies to be dissected afterwards.

In the indictment Irving and Grive are said to be of Appleby though this may only mean that they had been lodged in the gaol there.

According to the Cumberland Pacquet they were executed on Monday 12 August
